Fitting guide

Will it fit my tap? Almost certainly.

The InFlow™ Tap Filter fits 95% of Australian taps. If your tap has a round spout with a little mesh cap you can unscrew, you're set. Twelve adapters come in the box, so the right size is already there. Checking takes about 30 seconds.

The 30-second check

Three things to look at before you buy.

You don't need tools and you don't need to measure anything. Walk over to the kitchen tap and do this.

Find the aerator

It's the small mesh cap at the very end of the spout, where the water comes out. Most kitchen and bathroom taps have one.

Twist it off

Unscrew it by hand, anticlockwise. If it's stiff, a tea towel gives you grip. If it comes off, your tap has a thread, and that's what the filter attaches to.

Check the size

The opening should be roughly the size of a $1 coin. That's 16 to 24mm, the range our 12 adapters cover.

Aerator off, round thread, about a $1 coin?

It fits. Pick your filter below. Not sure about any step? Send us a photo and we'll check it for you.

Fits

Taps like these. No problem.

Real customer taps. If yours looks like one of these, it fits.

Fits

Standard mixer

The most common kitchen tap in Australia. Straight on.

Fits

Mixer with a round spout

Round end, removable aerator. The filter sits just below the spout.

Fits

Gooseneck

Chrome, black or brushed. The filter hangs off the end of the curve.

Fits

Brass gooseneck, with the Pro

Same adapters, same fit. The Stainless Steel Pro and Beauty Filter attach the same way.

Doesn't fit

The few taps it won't suit.

About 5% of taps. If yours looks like one of these, we'd rather tell you now than after you've ordered.

Doesn't fit

Pull-out and pull-down

The spray head comes away on a hose, so there's no fixed spout to thread onto.

Doesn't fit

Square or flat outlet

No round aerator at the end, just a flat slot. Nothing to screw onto.

Doesn't fit

Spring pull-down

Spray wand inside a coil spring. Looks great, but there's nothing fixed to attach to.

Doesn't fit

Wide or chunky end

The opening is bigger than a $1 coin, outside the 16 to 24mm adapter range.

Some pull-out taps still work with the universal rubber adapter in the box, and some taps with no aerator at all have a hidden thread. Not sure? Send a photo before you rule it out.

In the box

12 adapters. One of them is yours.

Every filter ships with 12 adapters covering 16 to 24mm threads, for taps with the thread on the inside and taps with it on the outside. You find the one that screws onto your tap, then the filter screws onto that. The right one is usually obvious the moment you line them up.

The refill cartridge comes preinstalled, so there's nothing else to assemble.

Adapter on, filter on

The adapter sits between your tap and the filter. Hand-tight is all it needs.

Install

On in 3 minutes. No plumber, no tools.

Unscrew the aerator

Twist the mesh cap off the end of your tap by hand.

Screw on the adapter

Pick the adapter that matches your thread and screw it onto the tap.

Twist on the filter

Thread the filter onto the adapter and tighten by hand until it's snug. Done.

Renting? It comes off just as easily, with no damage to the fittings. Take it with you when you move.

Which filter is right for me?

Questions

The things people ask about fitting.

Will an InFlow filter fit my tap?

If your tap has a round spout with an aerator you can unscrew, and the opening is roughly the size of a $1 coin, yes. That covers 95% of Australian taps. The 12 adapters in the box handle threads from 16 to 24mm.

What if I have a pull-out or pull-down tap?

Most pull-out taps won't suit, because the spray head comes away on a hose and there's no fixed spout to thread onto. Some still work with the universal rubber adapter in the box, so send us a photo before you rule it out.

Does this apply to the Beauty Filter and the Stainless Steel Pro?

Yes. All three attach the same way with the same 12 adapters. If the Tap Filter fits your tap, so do the Beauty Filter and the Stainless Steel Pro.

Which adapter do I use?

The one that screws onto your tap. Line them up against the thread and it's usually obvious. Taps have the thread either on the outside of the spout or on the inside, and the box covers both.

Will it affect my water pressure?

No, the InFlow Tap Filter is designed to maintain your water pressure while delivering cleaner water. You can also switch to unfiltered water with the silver switch on the side when you're filling a pot or washing up.

Can I install it in a rental?

Absolutely. It screws on and off by hand without damaging the fittings, so you can take it with you when you move.

Do I need a plumber or any tools?

No. It's a 3-minute job by hand: unscrew the aerator, screw on the adapter, twist on the filter. If the aerator is stiff, a tea towel gives you enough grip.

What if it doesn't fit after I've bought it?

Email a photo to support@inflowfilter.com and we'll find the right adapter. If it genuinely won't fit, send it back within 90 days for a full refund.
